<lastBuildDate>Mon, 22 Nov 2010 06:21:19 -0500</lastBuildDate><item><title>SLC XC at CCAA Nationals</title><dc:creator>john@ironstride.com</dc:creator><category>None</category><dc:date>2010-11-20T13:18:55-05:00</dc:date><link>http://www.ironstride.com/index.html#unique-entry-id-87</link><guid isPermaLink="true">http://www.ironstride.com/index.html#unique-entry-id-87</guid><content:encoded><![CDATA[<span style="font:14px &#39;Lucida Grande&#39;, LucidaGrande, Verdana, sans-serif; ">Seven members of the St. Lawrence College Cross County team travelled to Fredericton NB with coaches Randy Zabukovec and John Reid to compete in the 2010 CCAA Cross Country Championships, held on November 13th.  Hosted by St. Thomas University, this year&rsquo;s Championships were blessed with perfect weather and a challenging course in Odell Park in downtown Fredericton.<br /><br />Richelle Moore achieved All-Canadian CCAA All-Star status with her 7th place overall finish in the Women&rsquo;s race.  Richelle also received a gold medal as a member of 1st place Team Ontario in the Conference competition (she was the 3rd OCAA runner to cross the finish line).<br /><br />The Men&rsquo;s team had a great race as well, maintaining their 4th place position among Ontario teams, and retaining their national ranking of 10th in the country. Held in Clearwater Florida on November 14th, Glenda finished on a high note and with a big smile on her face in a time of 5:41:26. This time it was with a result of 1:17:31 to finish just 102 seconds behind the eventual winner (Barry Biner) at the Angus Glen Half Marathon held in Markham ON on November 7th.  Zab led the race for the first 7km until Biner, who is half Randy&rsquo;s age and was being paced by a non-registered runner, overtook him.<br /><br /></span><p style="text-align:center;"><img class="imageStyle" alt="12731-874-12926965" src="http://www.ironstride.com/files/12731-874-12926965.jpg" width="340" height="228"/><span style="font:14px &#39;Lucida Grande&#39;, LucidaGrande, Verdana, sans-serif; "><br />Coach Zab leading the pack at the start</span></p>]]></content:encoded></item><item><title>2010 Hamilton Marathon</title><dc:creator>john@ironstride.com</dc:creator><category>None</category><dc:date>2010-11-11T08:25:07-05:00</dc:date><link>http://www.ironstride.com/index.html#unique-entry-id-83</link><guid isPermaLink="true">http://www.ironstride.com/index.html#unique-entry-id-83</guid><content:encoded><![CDATA[<span style="font:14px &#39;Lucida Grande&#39;, LucidaGrande, Verdana, sans-serif; ">IronStriders Darlene Howe and Monica LaBarge share many things in common - both are talented athletes, both are high-level Ironman competitors, and both ended their 2010 racing season on a high note by nailing sub-3:30s at the Run2Hope Marathon held in Hamilton ON on November 7th.<br /><br />Both worked very hard to attain these impressive results - but the race wasn&rsquo;t void of complications.  Darlene and Monica were part of a small group of runners who had to stop and wait for several minutes for a train to pass at the 29km mark of the course. Coach Zab finished 3rd overall with a time of 16:58, just 0.8 seconds behind a much younger 2nd place finisher - and only 6 seconds behind the equally young winner.  Much older Coach </span><span style="font:15px Trebuchet, Verdana, serif; font-weight:bold; font-weight:bold; ">John Reid</span><span style="font:15px Trebuchet, Verdana, serif; ">, on the other hand, had a less happy day - adding 51 seconds to his last year's time - finishing in 22:33.<br /><br />Two other IronStride athletes also competed in the Rattle Me Bones with great results - </span><span style="font:15px Trebuchet, Verdana, serif; font-weight:bold; font-weight:bold; ">Mike and Alison MacDonald</span><span style="font:15px Trebuchet, Verdana, serif; ">.
